The Struggle and Rising of a VA

As I have mentioned in my previous blog, 2013 is a bit roller coaster ride for me. This  is the year in which I made the biggest decision in my life..to resign from my Job for 16 years and to shift to a new career. I thought it would be very easy for me to shift because I already attended seminars and webinars in which they teach some basic knowledge about being a virtual assistant. Aside from that, a friend of mine also taught me some skills in which I can already use. When I applied in a job bidding site, I always lost because some people bid as low as less that $1 in which I I can't accept. I know I am worth more than that. I was a supervisor in my former job, my salary is not that big but because of overtime and some "raket" my total net amount each month is more that my gross basic salary. I am not used of making a little money for my hourly work that is why I do not bid to jobs lower that $3... And this was my mistake. Because of my pride, I wasn't able...

My 2013- A Roller Coaster Ride

2013 was not the best year for me because  I had the biggest roller coaster ride of my entire life. I experienced joy because this was the time that I had the most awaited travel with my Mom to Hongkong and Macau (I promised this trip to her last 2012). Sadness because I lost one of my favorite cousin in Mindoro. Fear because of my illness (I have lots) which in turn triggered my depression. Last year also was the time I made the biggest decision of my life.. to finally resigned from my job after 16 long years because I wanted to shift to a new career.. to become a Virtual assistant. This was a 360 degree turn for me. During my former job I am always surrounded with people. My phone are always ringing (even on Sundays and holidays). This is huge adjustment because I am always alone at home. Shifting to a new career was also not that easy. I encountered rejections from employers from the job bidding sites which in turns lowered my self confidence.  That was the time t...

Why I love Sun Cellular TU200 prpmp

I am a sun user for several years now.  At first,  find it difficult because there are provinces that don't have a strong Sun cellular signal but as years goes by, more cell sites are being built so I am enjoying it now. Most of our community members are in sun cellular network and this become my deciding point to have sun. When I first started with Sun cell, I have plan Php 350 - Unlimited call sun-to-sun, unlimited text sun-to-sun and 250 text to other network. At first I am enjoying it but sometimes my bill would go as high as Php 600 because of  my text to other network. Because of this, I decided to have my line cut and buy a sun cellular prepaid sim. I am enjoying pre-paid sun cellular now because of its promos. The promo that I liked most is the Php 200 load which includes unlimited text sun-to-sun, 4 hrs call sun-to-sun plus 500 text to other network What I do is that I buy a regular Php 200 load (which I bought for Php 202 in a sari-sari store near ...

My Php 1,000 Challenge

December is a season of giving. A time to buy gifts to our inaanak and to our loved one's. Just 2 days before Christmas, I have to make my last minute shopping because I still haven't finished my Christmas gift list. I do not have a permanent work for 8 months now and my budget for gifts this year is not that high. It's now stingy moment for me :-). I only have Php 1,000 budget left for gifts and things that I need (a sort of gift for myself also). Going to Divisoria is like a suicide at this momment (all right I am just exaggerating :-) ). But it's really hard to go there. You can barely move because there are lots of people who are also doing their last minute Christmas shopping. The items on the Mall are highly priced, so it is not on my option. To get myself away from my dilemma, I went to Quiapo instead. Bringing with me my Php1,000 bill. And these are the things that I bought Hello Kitty Bag for my Inaanak -  Php 130.00 (Original price at Php 15...

5 Foods found in Laguna and Quezon

Just recently, I have tasted again some foods found in Quezon and Laguna. I told my officemates about this and one  knows what I am talking about so here it is. 1) Kibit (Chiton) Uncooked Kibit Fried Kibit    These are mollusks found mainly on rocks. It is a popularly found in Quezon province.  I first saw these alive in Burdeous, Quezon during  our family trip. The locals dried this and sell to the neighboring town. The fresh Kibit is boiled till tender and removed the outer covering. Then you can put spices and then fried. Yum Yum!     2)      Mi-nani  Mi-nani I first saw this in Laguna but a friend told me that they also do cook this in Burdeous. A Cassava is hopped into small cubes , deep fried then you put some fried garlic just like the preparations that you will do in mani (peanut) that why it is called mi-nani. 3)      Abnoy -    ...

Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon

I am a native of Quezon but it is my first time to see the Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon last May 15, 2011. It is really wonderful and amazing to see those dazzling houses beautifully adorned with colorful rice wafers ( kiping ), handicrafts,  fresh fruits and vegetables from the farmer's harvest. Adorning their homes are the farmer's way of thanking their patron saint San Isidro Labrador (St. Isidore) and also to ensure that they will have a bountiful harvest ahead. adorned house We also have the chance to taste their famous pancit hab-hab . Its a   sauteed   noodles with pork meat, pork liver and shrimp and some vegetables. What makes this dish unique is the way it is eaten. It is placed on a banana leaf and eaten straight in your mouth without using any utensils. Pansit hab-hab is drizzled with vinegar to enhance its taste. The streets are crowded with local and foreign tourist and are all delighted to see and take pictures of the adorned homes. ca...
